David’s three shout outs
One
Corrosion #2 by Hiroko Komatsu, Man Cave, self published 2021. The next volume in Komatsu’s Corrosion series. Only produced in a small edition of 20, I got my copy from @bookdummypress. The images are of building sites or materials printed on tracing paper so that the photographs bleed into each other. The over all effect is very tactile, the imperfections of the materials work wonderfully with the subject.
Two
Unreliable Narrator by Phil Hill, published by Stanley James Press, 2022. Edition of 100
I came across this book almost by accident t, and I am so glad I did. It’s a fascinating personal story that exudes dark family secrets. The design is great, with a mix of photos, archive material, and carbon paper interweaved throughout.
I would highly recommend getting a copy before they disappear.
Three
I Just Want To Stay Home by Robbie Spotswood, published by Zone 6, 2021
Just Want To Stay Home by Robbie Spotswood, published by Zone 6, 2021. A very subtle and moving book of personal photos from London and Accra. It would have defined me in my best of 2021 list, but I was too slow on the pickup! @zone6press and @robbiespotswood are definitely two to keep an eye on.
